I have a grandaunt who reads me poetry. Less than two months ago, when I met Lata Mami at her Mumbai apartment, she proudly showed me her little library that’s probably among the most carefully curated collections of Marathi poetry in the city.
What a lovely bond you are building with Lata mami, over a shared interest in poetry and stories. So enriching to have this week after week. The flow of your writing so gentle and beautiful.
Thank you, Shalini. Your words came at a time when I most needed to hear them. Sometimes it's too easy for me to forget that even simple personal stories can and do leave an impression on your readers.
Thank you for sharing Lata Mami with all of us. It is so rare to have common interests with older family members. I can see how this could elevate a relationship across the generation divide. Best wishes to you both. Keep recording such lovely moments and keep sharing them with us.
Pleased to see this resonate with you! ✨
What a beautiful account of a very beautiful relationship! Yes, even I believe words and people find you when you most need them. That’s how I know the universe has my back! Not maybe, definitely we all need a Lata Mami in our lives. So much love to you and her.
Thank you, Sana. What's been extra special about this experience is being able to nourish a connection with a senior family member outside the traditional family mould, based on our shared love for poetry! 💛

Wah! I want Lata Mami too!
"People and poetry find you when you most need them." So so true.
Thanks for writing this piece and sharing these gems. You inspire me to write about my Usha Mami, who loves book and write short stories and poetry!!
Thank you, Preeti, look forward to reading about Usha Mami soon. ✨🙂
